39th President of the United States of America

Term: 1981-1989

Ronald Reagan, a former Hollywood movie star, served two terms as President and became one of America's most admired Presidents.  Reagan pusured a policy known as the "Reagan Revolution."  The goal was to restore "the great, confident roar of American progress and growth and optimism."  Despite an assassination attempt after only 69 days in office, Reagan recovered fully to pursue this goal.

Reagan was swept into office with 489 electoral votes, compared to Jimmy Carter's 49.  Reagan took this victory seriously, knowing the American people had placed their trust in him.  Reagan made his mark in international affairs in his strong stance against Communism.  He implored upon Mikhail Gorbachev of  the Soviet Union to "...tear down this wall."

Ronald Reagan saught peace and prosperity when he took office in 1981.  After eight successful years in office, he achieved just that.  In 2004, Ronald Reagan died after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

"I know in my heart that man is good.
That what is right will always eventually triumph.
And there's purpose and worth to each and every life."
